As part of the Civil Week and MIND Innovation Week, Fondazione Triulza ETS has organized in collaboration with Tiresia – Politecnico di Milano and Comune di Milano the meeting “New Social Economy in Europe. First trials of social procurement“. Over 80 experts and practitioners from different fields and sectors attended the meeting interested in understanding how to generate a new generation of social economy that involves the entire economic system. After the keynote speech of Professor Mario Calderini and the intervention of the Undersecretary of MEF On. Lucia Albano and the councillor of the Municipality of Milan Emmanuel Conte, were presented the first strategic plans of the Metropolitan Cities of Turin and Bologna, the solidarity economy districts of Trento and the experimentation in MIND of Social Procurement in partnership with Federated Innovation. All the speakers stressed the fundamental role of the territories and the National Plan in continuing to promote the social economy, despite the recent reorganisation of the European Commission, which has transferred responsibilities in this area from the Directorate-General for Growth to the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL). The promotion of the social economy is essential to strengthen the entire economic and industrial system, increase competitiveness and increase the environmental, social and democratic impact through participation and governance models.

The meeting took place on 9 May, Europe Day, on the occasion of MIND Innovation Week, Civil Week and the 10th anniversary of Expo2015.
The proposal is based on MIND, the new international science and technology innovation district which, in addition to hosting an IRCCS, universities, research centres, technology companies and the Skydeck incubator, has a unique specificity: the active presence of the social economy with Fondazione Triulza and its Social Innovation Academy from which a Cluster of Social Economy recognized by the European Commission was born. In an increasingly complex and rapidly changing society, it is of strategic importance for social organisations to promote initiatives with significant economic value, which look at development from different angles and are based on relationships, Collaborations and connections with all actors in the world of institutions, business, finance, research. MIND represents the ideal gym in which Fondazione Triulza is already experimenting paths for the social economy of technology transfer, capacity building and social procurement in partnership with Federated Innovation.
